Ladakh word actually means ‘land of high passes’, there is a famous saying among Ladakhi locals that “land is so barren and passes are so high that only the best of friends and fiercest of enemies come to visit us” And this aspect of Ladakh make this land such a perfect destination for adventure lovers from all over the planet Earth.
Eventually, as claimed by BRO (Border Roads Organisation) India, first , second and third highest motorable passes of the world lie in Ladakh named as Khardung La, Tanglang La and Chang La respectively, here ‘La’ denotes a mountain pass.
Interestingly Ladakh is home to three top motorable roads of the world, Khardung La, Tanglang La & Chang La which are first, second and third highest roads of the world as claimed by BRO, India.
