The Chadar Trek or the Zanskar Gorge is a winter-trail in Zanskar region of Ladakh, in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Its walls are near vertical cliffs up to 600 m high and the Zanskar River (a tributary of the Indus) is only 5 m wide in places.
The Chadar Trek is the frozen Zanskar River which provides an access route to the Zanskar Valley and is used as a trail by locals and tourists during the winters.
It takes place on the trade route that has been used by the indigenous people for centuries[3] and is a fairly well established trek.
Chadar trek a thrilling and adventurous trek in India. In the local language “chadar” means layer- indicating the layer of ice that covers the river .
The chadar trek is basically performed on a frozen river called the “Zanskar River”,during the summer this river doesn’t disappoint its enthusiastic
tourist as it becomes a perfect location for river rafting expedition and during the winters it transforms into an ice sheet where the famous Chadar trek is performed.
The frozen Zanskar river served and still serves as the traditional and only way of connect between Leh and Zanskar for the locals in the harsh winter months of Ladakh.
Its being used by the locals for centuries. The documentary of National Geographic Channel first brought this journey of the locals to the outside world and since then Chadar – The Frozen River Trek has hit the popularity burst.
Its rated as one of the best treks existing in the planet by many.
For many years Chadar trek has attracted tourist from all over the world, it is one of the most exciting and challenging treks which covers the distance of approximately 75 kms on foot, an average trekker completes a distance of 12–15 km each day.

There are two participation modes available as follows

• X Delhi – This package will also includes flights from Delhi to Leh and return along with inclusions of X Leh package.
  Cost of this package per person in INR is 40,000/- inclusive of all taxes. Registration ticket is available at the top & bottom of this page.
• X Leh – In this package transportation from airport to guest house in Leh and to trek start point is provided . Participant will have to reach Leh on their own. Package includes all mentioned heads ahead on this page .
  Cost of this package per person in INR is 25,000/- inclusive of all taxes. Registration ticket is available at the top & bottom of this page.

Day 1:  February 11 2017 Saturday
Fly to Leh.
Pickup from Airport to Guest House.
Take rest in guest house to acclimatize

Day 2: February 12 2017  Sunday
Take rest in guest house to acclimatize.
Explore Leh.Drive to Khardung La top & back.
Stay in guest house

Day 3: February 13 2017  Monday
Pick up from guest house and drive to Darr-Shingra via Chilling village.
Overnight stay in tents at Shingra Yokma

Day 4: February 14 2017  Tuesday
Trek from Shingra Yokma to Tsomo Cave.
Overnight stay in tents in Tsomo.

Day 5: February 15 2017 Wednasday
Trek from Tsomo to Tibb Cave.
Overnight stay in tents in Tibb.

Day 6: February 16 2017 Thursday
Trek from Tibb to Nyerag.
Overnight stay in tents in Nyerag.

Day 7: February 17 2017  Friday
Trek from Nyerag to Hodhong Cave.
Overnight stay in tents in Hodhong.

Day 8: February 18 2017  Saturday
Trek from Hodhong to Bakula Cave.
Overnight stay in tents in Bakula.

Day 9: February 19 2017  Sunday
Trek from Bakula Cave to Darr and drive back to Leh.
Overnight stay in Guest House in Leh.

Day 10: February 20 2017  Monday
Leave guest house after breakfast.
Drop to Leh airport.

Package Inclusions

Accommodation & Equipment
Stay will be provided on twin sharing basis in homestay.
Stay will be provided in tents on sharing basis (including all quality camping equipment).
Tent options will be 2 Men/3 Men.
Sleeping bag and Mat will be alllocated individually on day 1.

Food
Tea, Veg Breakfast, Lunch and dinner will be provided in buffet in guest house in Leh.
Veg Camp cooked Tea, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner will be provided during the trek.

Trek Guide & Porters
A certified and vastly experienced English speaking guide will be escorting the group for the trek .
Porters will be provided to carry the camping equipment during the trek along with cooking and support staff.

Permits & Charges
All required permits will be arranged and newly introduced environment fees will be taken care as a part of the package.

Oxygen & Medical Backup
Oxygen, Rope, Oxy meter, thermo mat and First Aid kit will be available during the trek.

Transportation
Pick and drop from & to Leh airport will be included along with transportation from Leh guest house to trek start point and back will be included.
A shared drive from guest house to Khardung La top & back will also be provided depending on the weather.

Package Exclusions

Porter to carry personal stuff.They will be available on demand though.

Refund & Cancellation

In case of cancellation initiated from our side there will be full refunds.
In case of cancellation from participant before 5 February 2017, there will be a deduction of INR 1000/- from the amount paid, rest will be refunded.

No refunds for cancellations initiated after 5 February 2017.
