Great Himalayan National Park (GHNP) , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is India’s youngest national park located in Kullu district in the state of Himachal Pradesh, India.
The park was established in 1984 and is spread over an area of 1,171 km2 at an altitude of between 1500 to 6000 meters above sea level.
Shumga top located at 3810 meters above sea level acts as a boundary of GHNP main park area and ecozone and lies right on top of Barshanghar village.Starting point of this trek, Shanghar is a remote & exotic Himalayan village at an altitude of around 2050 meters ASL surrounded by GHNP and is home to beautiful golf ground like natural meadow which said to be belonging to local devta (diety) hidden from onslaught of regular party tourists.
In the month of winters from December to April Shumga mountain range receives heavy snowfall yet remain accessible with ample care, equipment, guidance and support.In this trek we will provide all services, equipment and guidance to help the participants reach Sara Lake starting from Shanghar spending one night beside the frozen lake in the lush white wilds of Great Himalayan National Park ecozone exploring the virgin wild trails of Shumga.
