Stok Kangri  at 6,153 metres (20,187 ft) above sea level is the highest mountain in the Stok Range of the Himalayas in the Ladakh region of northwest India. The peak is located in Hemis National Park, 12 km southwest of the trailhead at 3,610 metres (11,844 ft) in the village of Stok and around 15  km southwest of the Ladakhi capital of Leh.

Named after Stok village, Stok Kangri summit is the highest trekable peak in Indian Himalayas which makes it open to even trekkers with less trekking or mountaineering experience. Summit provides amazing views of Ladakh and Zanskar ranges along with Saser & K2 Peaks in Karakoram range.

Even though Stok is a trekable peak but final 1000 mts ascent to the summit is quiet tricky and would need high levels of both mental & physical fitness.Proper acclimatization before & after the trek and adequate physical training before the trek can be the crucial factors for successful climb.

Today is the day when we relax our body & mind and prepare them for the summit attempt next day. Day 6:  STOK KANGRI SUMMIT ATTEMPT  (20,177 Feet/6153  Meters ASL)
Today is the most challenging and big day as we attempt stok kangri summit from basecamp which is also the toughest part of the trek spanning over 10-12 hours for normal walker while 2-3 hours more for a slow walker.
We start the trek midnight so that we have ample time to turn back from the summit after spending some time there.
Today we go through glaciers and then steep slopes till summit ridge but all pain will seem worthy once you will see the spectacular Himalayan views from the ridge.
Towards the north, you would get a view of the Karakoram range. The Saser Kangri dominates the sky in the north along with the Karakoram, and the Zansker ranges in the south. The overnight stay, as usual, would be in tents.
